The layer no suite will ever build

Jul 31, 2026 2 min read

Salesforce can do almost everything these days. So can HubSpot. Sequencing, routing, forecasting, quoting, all native, all in the edition you’re already paying for. We’re the first to preach that half your point solutions can go because of it.

But there’s one thing no suite will ever do, and on principle: connect itself to the rest of your world.

Every suite automates inward. A workflow in HubSpot moves HubSpot data. A flow in Salesforce moves Salesforce data. That’s not an oversight, that’s the business model, because every suite wants to be the world, not part of one. Cross-system was never native and never will be. The moment the deal is won and the invoice needs to be created in Stripe or billwerk+, the moment the payment status has to flow back into the CRM so the CSM can see the customer hasn’t paid in 60 days before cheerfully pitching the upsell: from that point on you’re in the glue layer. Integration, a data model that spans system boundaries, the logic in between.

That piece is the most valuable part of your stack. Not the CRM. Not the billing tool. The connective tissue.

Why? Because that’s where the truth gets made. Whether a number in your reporting is right isn’t decided in the dashboard, but at the spot where three systems have to agree on what a customer is. Whoever owns and understands the integration layer controls the whole stack. They can swap tools like tires, because the logic doesn’t live in the tool. The other guy, whose connections consist of five Zapier zaps an intern built in 2023, is a prisoner of his own landscape. Every tool switch becomes open-heart surgery.

Quick test. Ask your team who knows exactly how the paid status gets from billing back into the CRM. Which system, which trigger, what happens on an error. If the answer is “that runs through Make somehow, I think,” you know where your risk sits. Not in the tools with the big logos. In the threads between them.

Point solutions come and go, suites swallow features, prices shift every year. The glue layer stays, no matter which stack sits underneath. That’s why you invest there first, with engineering instead of licenses.

Your stack is only as good as its weakest integration. Do you know yours?

Ready for numbers you don’t have to double‑check?

Five days from now you could be holding a clear, prioritised fix-list for your revenue stack, priced in euros, not estimates.
